:: propagandART ~ september 13, 2005 ::
so...here's a question i've
been struggling with lately:
how do you balance the desire to take advantage of all of life's opportunities,
but still stop and smell the roses?
part of me wants to go straight from
work to a bevy of activities...
finding new adventures, seeking out new friendships and experiences,
revisiting my favorite haunts, packing in as much life as my body
and spirit can tolerate, then squeezing in just a little more.
the other part of me wants to leave
work and just get carried away
by what's in front of me and not worry about times and dates.
i'm not sure i have an answer...but i sure love exploring the question.

Lou Rawls: Rawls Sings Sinatra and Rawls Sings Rawls ::
From gospel and early R&B to soul and jazz to blues and straight-up pop, Lou Rawls is a consummate master of African-American vocal music whose versatility allows him adapt to the changing musical times over and over again, while always remaining unmistakably himself. Blessed with a four-octave vocal range, Rawls' smooth, classy elegance — sort of a cross between Sam Cooke and Nat King Cole — permeates nearly everything he sings, yet the fire of his early gospel days is never too far from the surface.
This preformance is the make-up date from his cancelled May 4th appearance. If you purchased tickets for the original date, these tickets will be honored for the new date. If you won't be able to attend the concert on the new date, you may receive a refund by returning your original tickets to the Lied Center ticket office. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum-LAST WEEKEND ::
“Forum” is light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of the funniest musicals ever written – the perfect escape from life's troubles. The performance takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from time-tested, 2000 year old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. The result is a non-stop laugh-fest in which a crafty slave (Pseudolus) struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan (Philia) for his young master (Hero), in exchange for freedom.
With its unforgettable zany characters, a hysterical, perfectly constructed book by Larry Gelbart (of “MASH” and “City Of Angels” fame) and Burt Shevelove, and witty Stephen Sondheim songs which are modest in their vocal demands, “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum” allows a brilliant ensemble of comedic actors to shine.
