there are too many great items to list them all in the subject line.
let's start with a good one....
we all have certain groups
of friends that serve different purposes... some
are there for emotional support, some are work friends, some are movie
buddies, some are friends through children's/family activities and some are
friendly neighbors...
then there's the group of people you like to party with.
well, get on the phone to *that* group of friends...
and get down to duggan's
this friday (oct 11).
jam factor is playing at
duggan's pub (11th & k) this friday, oct 11
to provide an energetic evening of dance music. this will be our sixth gig,
and we're really starting to hit our stride. if you haven't seen this band
yet, gett off your ass and come shake it on our dancefloor.
we'll start kicking about 9:30. come early if you want a good table.
:: cowboy junkies ::
i rarely pimp an event that
competes with one of my own, but this is an
exception... the wonderful cowboy junkies will be at the music box in omaha
on friday. 7777 cass st; 9pm; $18 in advance/$22 day of show
:: youngblood brass band ::
one of my all-time favorite
live bands will be here on saturday.
everytime they come to town, they dish out some of the highest energy
dance music with absolute precision. the rhythm section is tight and funky.
and the lead horns tear through the room infecting everything in their path
with the urge to tap, shake or otherwise move some body part.
they never disappoint.
it's like dixieland funk...
new orleans hip-hop...
urban swing...
whatever you call it, be prepared to sweat.
resistance is futile.

they pack the house.
be prepared to wait in line if you come late.
but whatever you do, wait in that line and don't bail.
it'll be well-worth the wait.
:: dove shannon fashion show/benefit ::
if hot, funky, frenetic and
utterly danceable music isn't your thing,

to tell the truth, this is where i'm spending my saturday evening.
it sounds too saucy to miss! :-)

:: antibalas ::
i'm so excited about this
concert!!!!!
i don't care if you've ever heard afrobeat music before.
and even if you have, it's completely different live.
if you have *any* fondness for good dance music whatsoever,
COME TO THIS SHOW!
you'll be surrounded by lovers of good music
and people who aren't afraid to let their hair down and dance.
this kind of show rarely
comes to the midwest.
soak up this experience while you have a chance.
if this sounds the least bit intriguing,
then just go. it's that simple.
you'll be glad you did.

this is a great children's
show at the playhouse.
my cousin-in-law plays henrietta, a 266-pound chicken.
i don't know anything about the show, but i know him.
he's a great guy and a great performer.
he'll be worth the ticket price on his own.

:: rocky horror show ::
i saw the rocky horror show
at stages of omaha last year - and it was
awesome. of course it lacked the spectacle of paul pearson's version at lcp.
but i had a really good time. i highly recommend the road trip to omaha. and
don't wimp out, dress accordingly as a character or just plain slutty. it
makes the whole experience much more... vivid. mwwahahahaha!!
